PSDN Final Conference Report

The Peace, Security and Development Network

On Thursday 5 April 2012 the Peace Security and Development Network (PSDN) held its final conference: “Peace Security and Development in Fragile Contexts: Connecting Constructive Policy with Local Realities” in the Academy Building in Utrecht, The Netherlands. This report highlights the core discussions and conclusions of the day. The aim of the conference was threefold: 1) to present the ‘evidence-based’ knowledge gathered by the PSDN working groups, and insert it into current (inter)national debates on fragile states; 2) to provide relevant (policy) considerations and lessons learned for effective and constructive engagement in fragile contexts, based on the general findings of the research, and to take these lessons into the future; and 3) to show the added value of cooperation and the sharing of expertise and knowledge between different actors within a knowledge network, by connecting the findings of the working groups.
