About the Feminist Foreign Policy Trajectory
Between 2023 and 2025, the FFP trajectory unpacked what FFP means in operational terms for SROL programming and policy, with attention to sector-specific practices, actors, and partnerships.
FFP related conversations were hosted as both stand alone events organized by KPSRL and those co-hosted by network members. They essentially focused on
- Clarifying how FFP differs from prior frameworks (e.g., Women, Peace and Security).
- Assessing its potential to enhance women's rights while addressing broader inequalities.
- Exploring how it can disrupt entrenched power asymmetries in the development ecosystem.
- Navigating possible backlashes
- Identifying actionable steps to operationalize FFP in SROL, including the essential role of civil society, particularly community-based organizations, youth, and women’s groups.
For example, with The Broker, WIPC, and Cordaid, KPSRL co-hosted a session titled "Implementing Feminist Foreign Policy in Fragile and Conflict Affected Settings" at Afrikadag in November of 2024. KPSRL also co-hosted a closed-door roundtable titled "Operationalizing Feminist Foreign Policy: Strategizing Civil Society Priorities" during the 69th annual Commission on the Status of Women.
