Messina Manirakiza
Messina Laurette Manirakiza joined the Knowledge Platform for Security & Rule of Law (KPSRL) as a knowledge broker-programming and practice in April 2018. She leads on the development of a learning strategy for ensuring the uptake of knowledge produced by programmes and practitioners, and encourages participants in the Knowledge Platform to use the Secretariat and the wider network as a ressource for support in learning, innovating, and improving the impact of their work. Messina's expertise focuses on international human rights law, transitional justice, gender in (post)confilct and fragile settings, and gender and political settlement.
Prior to joining the Knowledge Platform, Messina was a project lead and a researcher at Impunity Watch in Burundi. She holds a law degree from National University of Rwanda, a Master of Science in Gender, Institutions and Societies from Light University of Bujumbura, an LLM in International Economic and Business Law from University of Groningen in the Netherlands and an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Notre Dame-Center for Civil and Human Rights in the USA.
